Essence: Beach

Challenge: Essence by Jane Dougherty!

Rhyme scheme: aA, bB

Meter: 6, 6

Essence is a form of poetry consisting of two lines- 6 syllables each. An internal rhyme is required- one in the middle of both the lines (no restriction in which syllable the rhyme should hit) and one rhyme at the end of both the lines.

Essence on beaches!

Swaying palm tree; forth and back.

Birds fly free; ‘nut falls cracks!

Silver stars in the sea;

Flows far, lures like candy.

    1. You’ve got to squeeze the message in between the syllables and the rhyme scheme limits… So I’ve tried it first with imagery… But when it’s finished you won’t be thinking about the sweat above your brows, you just drown in the image it creates and that’s what I love about this form 🙂
